Sustainability & Accessibility
Pilot recognises that we have a responsibility to becoming more environmentally sustainable. As a company whose work engages primarily with young people we want to be confident that we are leading by example across all areas of our operations in our approach to environmental responsibility.
We are therefore committed to reducing our environmental impact across all areas of the business, with the ambition of developing and delivering a strategy to achieve significant sustainable improvements and new working practices that will reduce our environmental impact and enable us to measure and report on our progress.
We are working with partners including the Theatre Green Book and Julie’s Bicycle to support this journey.
We commit to
- embed sustainability into all areas of our organisation, Creative/Operational/Advocacy
- empower our staff and trustees to become ambassadors for sustainability through a culture of shared responsibility
- communicate our ambitions, actions and achievements to our peers, audiences, communities and stakeholders and actively support regional and industry initiatives to significantly reduce carbon use in our operations
We continue to explore how to share our opportunities on as many different networks as possible and job backs are provided in Easy Read, Large Print and audio versions. We’re also open in terms of applications forms in alternative formats (including video applications).
Accessible performances, including BSL performances
Where possible, we work closely with venues to ensure all our productions are BSL interpretated and captioned, or have a specific number of of BSL and our captioned performances available during the show’s run.
We’re committed to having accessible formats offered across all our own digital material. All of our videos and films are captioned and we are aiming to make our recent educational resources audio described by the end of 2022.
Our website provides a first stop for information about our work and it incorporates features for those who need assistance (including captioned videos and trailers) as well as options for our web pages.
