Under A Redcar Sky
A Pilot Theatre project commissioned by Borderlands and funded by Creative People and Places, Arts Council England
This autumn a group of strangers wandered through the seaside exhibition at Kirkleatham Museum in search of a story.
Working with Redcar writer Carmen Marcus, these writers have created a series of stories for performance that will take you on a journey to the back stage of Redcar’s strolling performers who entertained holidaymakers on the golden sands in the 1930s and 40s to the lights and drama of Redcar’s seafront Arcades.
You’ll be transported from Redcar sands on a rainy day to the opulence of Dubai’s beaches, the smell of black tea and beach smoke in Iran and the first love poem spoken to the sea in Iraq. These sea tales have been woven from the history of and love for Redcar and tell its secret stories and hidden pasts.
Suitable for ages 11+.
This performance will be BSL interpreted.
